O`Brien pair set for French Derby

Champion trainer Aidan O`Brien is set to have two runners in the Prix du Jockey-Club (French Derby) at Chantilly on Sunday.

Galileo`s brother Black Sam Bellamy finished a length third (promoted to second) to Khalkevi at Longchamp last time and is to take his chance in the Classic.

He will be joined in the line-up by stable companion Diaghilev, who won the Prix la Force at Chantilly earlier this month.

'Black Sam Bellamy and Diaghilev go for the race,' O`Brien announced today.

'Black Sam Bellamy is a horse who has been a bit immature but he is coming on all the time and really pleasing me.

'They both ran well in their trials and they will run well but Act One could be hard to beat, he looks a very nice colt.'

O`Brien also had news of last season`s Rothmans Royals St Leger winner Milan, who is making good progress after suffering a spiral fracture of his off-fore cannon bone on his reappearance at the Curragh earlier this month.

He said: 'He`s still at the Troytown Veterinary Hospital but the reports are good and he will be definitely be back next year, if not by the backend of this season.'

Milan also finished second to Fantastic Light in the Breeders` Cup Turf at Belmont Park on his final start last term.
